We're back in business, and kicking it off with a midnight photo! Because of Google-related problems, photos are now being routed through Flickr (go Yahoo!). This will also be the final camera position, I think. Sadly, the "better" camera didn't work easily with my script, so we're stuck with this mediocre webcam. If you want a detailed image, you'll have to come visit.

Problems
I've been having problems with Google's direct-upload mechanism. You'll notice that posts for the last two days are missing. Everything was sent properly on my end, so it's a Google problem.
No worries, there is a workaround and the photos will be back soon, and they won't just be pictures of the sky!
Disappointingly, the new camera I planned to use doesn't work properly, so we're sticking with this one. It will soon be more securely positioned in a better location.

Don't worry, I'm getting a better camera soon. And the position and attachment will change as well, so it doesn't look so crooked.

This picture shows some problems with nighttime photos. Light from the room, and also a decorative ring of light around the camera lens are reflected in the glass.

Beta-testing automation
I'll be beta-testing the automation and equipment. Posts will come and go, and the position of the camera will change. Hopefully I can also find a way to get higher-quality snapshots.

First post!
This is just a teaser, taken with my cell phone. The actual camera will be higher-positioned and hopefully have a wider field of view (and I won't be reflected in the glass!).
At this time I cannot estimate how long it will take to set up the camera and script for auto-posting, but it shouldn't be more than a week or two.
